I bought a Bosch re-manufactured alternator. Much more expensive. I've heard bad things about Kragen/Advance Auto/etc. re-manufactured alternators.

Got mine from ebay. Seller was California Alternator. Seems to be a quality product. Easy fitment. Its working properly and holding up well but it has only been a couple of months. IIRC paid about $120 for it.

Default Advance Auto

I bought mine from them and the insides are brand new the outer part is what is reused and basic difference is it maybe a little heavier otherwise it is just as good with a warranty and cost AA LOOTT less......

as anything can go wrong with any part used or new or?????

I would buy I bought on line saved more money that way picked up at store I wanted I would call the store before ordering on line and verify they have it as online stock accounting can be if'y

I would say just go with a reman. I used to work in auto parts and never heard anything bad about the alternator remans that we sold. Force Five, ebay, or reman and save some $$$

I just replaced mine and there were about six different models to choose from depending on whether you had a Bosch and Valeo model from the factory. I bought a remanufactured 120-Amp Valeo unit from AutoZone for $160. I changed it myself, but it took all day, so that doesn't sound like a bad price you got for the labor. Be sure to have them clean the ground strap connection to the body while they're changing it.

One other option is just changing the voltage regulator, which you can remove without taking anything else off the car. You just have to be sure that the rest of the alternator is okay. The shaft on mine had two huge grooves worn in it, but it also had almost a quarter million miles on it.

Default part

C'mon, spend the 30.00 in parts and rebuild it yourself. Or take it to a local re-builder and keep your dollars at home. There are several alternatives to buying that junk from AZ and AAP.
