My ex wife had to get her computer cleared many times for night tightening the gas tank LOL. I bet the attendant made that mistake. Take it to AutoZone and pull the error for free. Lower grade gas may cause knock retard or what not with exposed use but I doubt it will hurt anything just seem sluggish. The same thing with higher octane. I put 110 octane in my GTO and it felt punchy but ran fine after with 93 octane. Also check your gas tank. My GLI is rated at 91 Octane not 93. Supposedly higher octane can cause wear on O2 sensors. I am not sure if that was a tall tale or not.

You can use regular Dex-cool for coolant. BTW, Audi told me that if I use any other brand of dex-cool other than Audi's, my engine may overheat. One year into it and it is still under control. Stupid dealers.

it wont necessarily overheat, but the coolant will gel up...not good.

There are signals for damaged head gaskets in contact with non G12 coolant.

exactly why i asked what type of coolant he used. could be brewing up another problem. if you put in non g12, get it flushed, and then put whatever coolant in that you want, but keep it the same type.
