Greetings Gurus! I just viewed the new A7 at an Audi dealer here in Brooklyn; VERY NICE! The front hood looks wider than a friggin Range Rover, very nice look. The dealer had 2 A7's, one for $57k and the other for $64k.

My question is, why did they make it so slow??! I mean, yeah they were both supercharged, but at only 310 hp, aren't you still going to get your azz handed to you by a Ford Taurus or even the Hyundai Genesis?

I asked one of the sales reps do they offer any service to change the ECU, but was disappointed when they told me they could only get an additional 30hp.

Since it's a v6 can anything be done to get this slow and luxurious beast above 400hp?

 

Take a look at the offerings from Stasis. You can get 400 hp and a factory warranty.

 

Ford Taurus Eco-boost SHO : 0-60 5.2 secs.
Audi A7 : 0-60 5.4 secs.

I'm not sure many drivers would notice the difference.

I think 30-70+ times would be more telling. Besides torque is what MOVES you.

With gas prices the way they are car companies are going to be leaning towards mileage over power, anyway. At least for a while. Once the car has been out for a few tuners will get involved. It's too new, right now. If there is enough demand for the car there will be interest in tuning it.

 

I am new to Audi but it appears that Stasis has a package to bump the 3.0 to 376hp (listed under A6). We traded in my wife's 335xi and the A7 feels just as quick and much smoother. It feels much more stable also. It has been a while since I drove a car with paddle shifters but I was amazed how smooth it shifted in the manual mode. If you haven't test driven one yet I highly suggest it. I don't think my wife has seen me enjoy a test drive that much in a while. This will be my wife's car but I see us spending much more time in it than her 335xi.

 

And to me the A7 actually feels at least as quick. The official power figures might be very conservative. The car most definitely does not feel slow.

 

drive the car. it has plenty of torque. an 8 cylinder would be way overkill for me but more importantly, i would not pay for it.

the days of paying for and lugging a 400 hp 8 cyl around burning fuel are done for me. the roads are crawling with revenue hungry cops and rarely can anyone utilize full potential of high end vehicle. of course the name plate does look cool but forget about opening the thing up and keeping your license for long.

 

Well if you havnt already bought the A7 you could consider waiting for the S7...that supposedly would have a 420hp 4.0 tfsi engine. Would be good enough i reckon.
In any case, the 3 litre supercharged with 5.4secs to 100 is substantially quick i guess.

 

I believe it was APR that has a reflash for the B8 S4 (which uses the same basic engine, albeit with some differences to account for the 333hp rating in that car). IIRC, their reflash (and likely an overdrive pulley for the blower) made 100whp. I'd ask them if they have a tune specific for the A7 yet. That'd be money very well spent.
