How do I remove or repair the rear 3rd brake light??
2012 Audi A7
My 3rd brake light went out last weekend. All LED lights are out so I assume it's wiring or maybe a fuse? Where is the fuse for this, if any? I took the plastic liner off under the top, inside of the hatch opposite of the 3rd brake light assembly. Then I unscrewed the 3 nuts that mount the assembly and tried to remove the 3rd brake light but it feels like it's still has screw/bolt mounts on the outside, 3/4 edges of the assembly. I think it's 36" or 48" across the roof? Whatever the OEM assembly is. I was lifting up on each side but I don't want to break the plastic assembly. I am assuming the LED board is bad, or it simply needs to be re-soldered at certain points or it's a wiring / plug issue. I just want to remove the whole assembly without breaking it of course. I know the new ones cost around $200 or more. I am pretty confident this can easily be repaired since LEDs usually last the lifetime+ of any car.
Has anybody experienced doing this? I cannot find anything on this after searching all over the internet which is weird to me. This is not exactly a new car, its been around for 8+ years. Thank you advanced for your help.
