Should I sell or junk my 2000 A8? It runs great. I did a lot of maintenance cuz I was expecting to put 350,000 miles on it before I retired. But COVID radically reduced my business travels. Now, I am retiring and I do not need it anymore. I love it, but my wife and I are going down to 2 cars. So, the A8 has to go. Recent maintenance included: New timing belt, new front brakes (pads, rotors, & calipers), and new battery at 297,000 miles (June 2020). New rear brakes (pads, rotors, & calipers) at 301,000 miles (May 2021). New Windshield in June 2022. Also, the transmission was rebuilt at 194,000 miles in 2013, and both cam chain tensioners were replaced at 232,000 miles in 2015. The Aluminum Body is still spectacular: Silver with Black interior. No rust. But it has some issues: Fuel pump sucks air & stops pumping if level drops below half full (I've driven with this issue for 9 years & 110,000 miles and did not run out of gas...just kept the tank at least half full). Minor coolant leak (mechanic stripped bolt hole when replaced timing belt & water pump)...< 1 quart of coolant per month. Temperature gauge works intermittently...suspect bad sensor. Oil Pressure Sensor warning light is ON...I've driven with it ON for over a year (>10,000 miles) and no issues...it's a bad sensor. Headliner droops behind sunroof. Sunroof does not work. Dash CD player doesn't' work (CD changer in trunk does & so does the in-dash cassette tape player). Automatic Headlight Dimmer Warning Light has been ON for 9 years...mechanic couldn't fix it so I just lived with it. Do you think anyone will buy it with these issues?
