2001 A8 stalling, why?
I have a 2001 Audi A8 which has recently been stalling at traffic lights/stop signs/any kind of stop and doesn't start up until the engine has cooled down once again. I replaced the coolant sensor and had the fuel pump exchanged, as well, and the problems continue. Can anyone give me a hint on what could be wrong? I'm currently deciding on investing in a scanner for the computer in it, but I would like to avoid spending the money to my greatest ability. Thanks.
Hi
Low cost options first; you may want to remove the throttle body and Idle stabilisation valve )back of the engine) and clean it with some CArb/injector cleaner and lint free cloth. These are normally the cause for stalling problems on A8's.

I really appreciate your suggestion. I cleaned the throttle body as you said, but it's still giving me the same problems. Also, I put a new air filter in it, which didn't make a difference either. It looks like my best bet is to get the scanner and figure this out once and for all.
Yup, I had it all cleaned out. I'll have to look into that a little bit more, though, I guess.
I should be getting the scanner soon, too, so hopefully that'll fix any problems now and in the future.
