I don't have a D3 A8 or a manual for one, so can't give a detailed procedure (need a manual).
Every vent flap in your system is controlled by an individual internal vent-flap motor which can be detected by a diagnostic hook up or visual inspection after a disassembly.

Im still confused whether or not if you're talking about the actual vent assembly itself or if there is any air coming out of it at all.....
If its the vent thats broken its actually really easy to remove. Pull off the wood trim around the vent off then look thru the bottom slat on the vent, on either side you will see two VERY small steel loops, you need to stick two picks in there, lift both of the loops to release the vent then pull it forward out the dash.
Now if its a vent flap motor......buy a bentley before proceeding.
