I took my car to a hand car wash and noticed the guy that was was drying off my car forced the trunk open.he obviously had no knowledge of the A8 trunk opening on its own.well needless to say when I pushed the button to open the trunk it no longer opens, so I have to manually open it. however it does close automatically when the button is depressed.can someone offer any suggestions before I go to the dealer and get raped.if it is the motor like some people have stated, any parts store referral will be greatly appreciated.

 

We have sold 8 last year and 4 this year, the striker plate with motor for power latch, #17 on the diagram. I don't know if this is your problem but it's a start. We have it in stock for 267.84 which beats list price of 360.00 from your local dealer.

You will likely need that upgraded motor over time anyway since they tend to fail and not open the deck lid.

And be wary of people - had to slap my colleagues hand away as she tried to rip open my trunk once.

Thanks a lot for that info, its definitely a starting point. The Audi Dealer would probably leave me needing cpr after they gave me a price on the cost. I will make sure I ask the guy drying my car off what he drives first.lol..
