'96 A8 Missfire problem
Hello,
I have a 96 a8 3.7 V6. One day the car started to rough idle and missfire, including load missfire. I also have CEL on, and CAT flashing. The misfirre doesn't stop even at high RPMs. The scanner says cylinder 6 misfire. I changed the plug and the coil, but still no change. Any ideeas? No mods have ever been made to the engine, and no messing around, Car worked fine til that day. Could it be the CAT? I also tried to switch the coils from other cylinder, and the same. Missfire still there. Any help? I saw around here that it might be a ICM problem. Where is that located? Could it also be a bad valve?(even though, i don't see why a valve should have gone bad). The spark plug gets wet, so i presume i have fuel on the cylinder.
THX

RE: '96 A8 Missfire problem
unless you know, FOR SURE, you always wanna try the cheapest fix, first. I say do a continuity test on the wires. Get a good Multi-Meter and check that they "zero," end-to-end.
try sending a PM to TechBod, he's one of our European-based "techs" and may have some experience with your particular model
