Default A8L Wheels

I have 255/40zr/19's on my car right now. Because I am in Canada I will be buying a seperate set of snow tires and wheels.

Can I go to a 18" instead of a 19"?

Not worried about the tire pressure monitors during the winter months...not worth the extra expense unless its truly needed.

What do you guys/gals think?

If your beastie came with 18"ers, stock, then, yes! There's no reason not to, because 19" snow tires cost a ********+.

August is the 1st month of winter, in Canada, right? Runs through to June/July, then starts back up again?!?!?

The ONLY concern, as long as you keep your rolling diameter (check here: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) the same, is brake clearance. If your car came from teh factory w/18" wheels, you're good. If it came w/19's, prepare to sacrifice a ********.

My mean machine came with 19s. I have yet hear otherwise so it looks like 19" snow tires and rims. Has another heard otherwise?

Thanks.

You can go with 18", no worries, but make sure you buy good rims, for example I just got a set of 18" genuine A8 rims from an '07 A8 yesterday for $500.00 from a guy who went with 19" for his car. I'll buy the dunlops 3d 255/45/18 winter tires for them and I chose those tires after extended research on winter tires. I hope this would help.

I talked to Audi today. I can run 17x8 with a 43mm offset. Good news.
Thanks.

Very small IMO, but whatever you use make sure you use Forged wheels as the OEM are..keep an eye out for Audi nuts changing wheels and buy the OEM's..the A6 7 spoke 18" will also work and look good, don't use Cast wheels on the A6 or 8.
