Buying a Preowned 2005 Audi A8L Quattro. PLEASE HELP
I found a great deal which I'm interested in. It's for an 2005 Northern Pearl Blue Audi A8L.
So the car looks great inside and out. I was really happy with it but my major concern was the maintenance. I know Audi's generally around 80k miles need a timing belt and water pump replacement. This has 85k miles. I looked at the carfax reports and it's been done last year the replacement and maintenance. It was actually in the shop last month for an oil and filter change. All and all the car reports look great.
It's a wholeseller who is selling me the car. I really want to buy this car but I'm worried about issues that may arise or added maintenance costs. Is there any other things I should look to replace or look into in the 90k/100k and etc mark. Like I said Timing Belt and Water pump have been replaced. I'm buying the car for around 10k.
Will the car run solid for another 20-40k miles? Should I be worried or pass up this offer?

Well you didn't say how much they are asking, which is critical.
Air suspension is a big concern on these vehicles.
A good start for an inspection list here: audipages Used A8 Buyer's Guide
I don't see a VIN in your report so I can't check campaigns, but considering the lengthy list I doubt there are any outstanding.
Skimmed the list - lots to read in there and I'm exhausted but will look closer tomorrow.
Any VCDS scan to look through ?

I just picked up one for 11, with 130k. totally clean and babied though with all the options that were available, sub-w12.
things I look for are:
-CV Boots
-control arm bushings, lower and upper
-I would ask if they did the thermostat at the same time they did the water pump and timing belt. it is right next to it, behind the cap, which is under the timing belt.
-make sure the mmi is working well. you could also check to see if it has been updated to 4610
-do the switches work with all the windows
-seat functions?
-automatic trunk? is the motor working?
-the shocks on the trunk and the hood
-check the transmission and be sure that all 7 gears are good, 6 forward, 1 back and shift smoothly.
-air bags are expensive to fix. if they have not been done, they will be coming. MAKE FRIENDS WITH FRIENDS OF AUDI STEALERSHIPS

in the end, if you are paying 10k...and the maintenance at an average car payment is about 800+ for this luxury vehicle (being conservative), then so long as your maintenance on the vehicle is less than 10k outside of oil/tires/brakes/gas/car washes, then you are really ahead....and I think that 10k here is really actually high. I would expect less than 4k

It appears as though the maintenance was kept up on this vehicle, which is a good thing. For the price, I would pull the trigger.
For your own piece of mind, my 2006 S4 which as a modified version of the exact same 4.2 engine (they swapped the timing belt for a chain and put it in the rear of the engine to make it fit) just reached 181K miles.

I found a mechanic on craigslist that said he would charge 40 dollars to look at it. The Audi dealer says he would charge 160 which I don't mind paying but he doesn't have anything open till Monday. I'm going to call another couple of them and see if they have openings.
So from this thread and another I posted on a different site it seems like the Front suspension and bushings are the biggest cause of concern. How likely is it honestly that the front suspension fails? Should I just take a gamble and pull the trigger based on the price and carfax reports.
