Fuel Guage not responding.Please help

Default Fuel Guage not responding.Please help

hello all,
I have a A8 2001,Few days back i have noticed that the fuel guage on the dash is moving up and down when ever it does that the dash board kms are changing from 140 km to 100 km then to 140 km .then i knew that some thing is wrong .Today morning when i have started the car the fuel guage is not moving and the dash shows 0 kms. .

What could have gone wrong /or need to be checked .please help .
I have already put one gallon of fuel in to it still not moving .

Please help .

I would try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. At leasts is easy and doesn't cost anything. Other than that you would idealy need VCDS to read live data and check for fault codes. Have you had a low battery?

yes i did, had a low battery few days back and i have jumped started the car few times.

Probably scrambled the data banks or something.
I have seen similar unexplained probles after a low-voltage incident, you can disconnect the battery, or sometimes they correct themselves in a week or two.
