Wht does headlight range defective mean? it popped up as an issue in the dash

 

It means there is a problem with the automatic adjustable headlight motor, either the left or the right.

 

So does that mean i would have to buy a new motor

 

Thats the usual repair, a vag com www.ross-tech.com can tell you which motor is malfunctioning. Or you could just have the dealer replace it. Do you ever notice that one of the headlights don't auto adjust when you first start it up, or does one of the headlamps point downwards too much?
