Smile hissing noise at engine turn off.

hi,
on the 2004 A8L is it common to hear a "hiss" when the engine is turned off ,
looks like the suspension goes down, i don't hear this if the engine is running , the suspension seems ok and is level all around, it seems to go up and down at speeds and maintains its height.

one more question ...how long (safely) can you go with out changing the timing belt,
if anybody has had one done from the dealer???how much???

thanks.

Try spraying the airbags with soapy water to see if you can find a leak in the air bags.

As for the timing belt, you don't want to wait more than 80-90k to change the belt.
You can buy a kit for cheaper at www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com then have a good euro shop replace it.

The dealer would charge you around $2,000 to do it.

Air bags are whats holding up your car, they take the place of a standard coil spring. Its behind the wheels on all four corners. Take off one of the wheels and you will see em. Just make sure to put the car in jack mode before lifting the car off the ground.
You do that through the MMI, select car, scroll down to air suspension, and put it in jack/service mode.

They should be covered. Just tell them that the car starts to lower itself over night.
