Default MB and BMW owner thinking of adding an A8 to the stable

Hello folks - newbie here. As the title suggests I am thinking of adding an Audi A8 to the stable.
I currently have a BMW 530i and a MB ML320 SUV.
The BMW is a manual and drives like a jet fighter in terms of agility and responsiveness while still absorbing every road imperfection with not a single moment of drama.

But during the winter, no one feels secure driving it for more than a short errand in the snow so am looking for an all wheeld drive sedan to add to the stable. Am thinking about an A8.

For the price of a used 530xi, I realized that an A8 with a couple of years on the clock is actually slightly cheaper.
So what do you guys think?

A few questions:
Will I enjoy the A8 from a 'driver's car' point of view?
Should I stay with a certified car?
Are they problematic as other models in the Audi lineup?
Is DIY maintenance for oil, air filter, etc easy to do?

Thanks!

If your gonna buy a 04+ A8, certified is the way to go, too many stupid little gagets break.
