New (2003) A6 to Stable - What now?
Hello all - I just purchased a 2003 A6 3.0 Quattro from a dealer here in Virginia and am having the torque converter replaced as it was throwing a P0741 OBD code after I got it home (on the dealer). The car is absolutely beautiful and has 50K on it.
Never owned an Audi before and am wondering what types of maintenance I should do on it when it comes back from the shop. I'm able to do most routine stuff.
Thanks in advance.

Anyways. Basically just bring the car to a shop and have them look it over. At 50K usually everything should be sound with the car. ~65K you will start having to replace stuff (I had to replace my tie rod ends).

Thanks guys. I got the Audi as a daily driver for my daughter. Taking the Maser up to Summit Point tomorrow to track it with the Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini of Washington. I love the Maser but I'm also very impressed with the Audi.

vincenzo, around 60-70k miles, have your timing belt/water pump/etc. looked at and consider replacing (big thing with our model A6s around this milage). Mine was fine but had replaced at 75k miles. Also, have the dealer at that milage look at your tie rods, control arms, suspension, etc. If your daughter around 80-90k miles starts to see problems with the windows and their operation going up, 95% of the time it is caused by two plastic clips ($5/ea) that guide the window & window regulator up the track. Do NOT let the dealer convince you that you will need the whole new regulator ($175/ea quote) with 2.5 hrs labo ($60-80/hr). It is just these plastic clips that you can search the forums on how to replace (at audiworld.com) I'm in the process now of changing both front window's clips. Other than that, I've had no problems besides normal maintenance (rotors/pads, etc). OH! and your LCD display on the instrument cluster may start to fade/burn out around 70-80k miles. This is a $600+ repair from the dealer for a new cluster. I'm living with mine being faded a bit for now. lol If I think of anything else, I'll update you :-) Good luck and the car sounds beautiful! - Ben -
