Unhappy MMI Problem

I have a 2003 S8. The radio works fine and I have computer info in the dash screen. What I don't have is tire pressure or GPS information on the screen. Do I need a MMI unit? Perhaps a backup battery? Any suggestions?

I'm almost positive that any audi older than 2004 doesn't have a screen installed to even allow for a gps or anything you listed. All the small screen displays is the radio information just like any other car.

Default MMI Problem

Thanks Brozee for your quick response to my problem. Actually my Audi has factory GPS & tire pressure monitoring installed. I think it comes standard on the S8 in 2003. In any event, my alldata program doesn't mention it at all. I'm at a loss as to what to check and or replace. As I avoid the local stealer like the plague and do have a very competent local shop that has been maintaining my Audis for years, they just aren't able to deal with this situation.

Default Wrong Term

Brozee, haven’t had much 'high tech' response to my display dilemma. I may have used the wrong term when calling my dash display the 'MMI'. I guess that’s the pop up screen on later models as you were describing. My GPS uses the little screen where the radio display is. In any event, you wouldn't happen know where one could find electronic component info for the Audi? I have an AllData subscription but it has no info on the GPS unit that I can find.

The question of the day would be do you have a D2 97-03, or D3 04-current? If you have a 2003 you have a D2, yes those have navigation and tire pressure monitoring, but you don't have an MMI system. You have a seperate system for each of those which has to be read thru the instrument cluster screen.
What you need is an owners manual and to take it to the dealer because we don't know why you are having these problems, and we would need fault codes to diagnose it. Thats like asking, "my leg hurts, whats wrong with it?" You realize how hard that is for us to figure out?

Sorry, the previous post indicated I have a 2003 Audi S8. I have no radio, GPS or tire monitoring in the dash screen. Can you suggest components to check or where to obtain technical information on this system?

Im still lost, im thinking you have a D2 A8 with an upgraded radio unit like this http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2010/03/a...to_rns-e_r.php
In which case you need info for the RNS-E unit, i would purchase a manual for that radio somewhere on the internet.
