Question on oil changes.
2000 A8L 115K miles.
My nearest Audi shop is 110 miles so it is a pain to take it there for oil changes.
Also no nearby specialized Euro repair shops so I use the local VW dealer.
Just reviewed some invoices when the cost seem to escalate and noticed they had been billing billing me for a new drain plug and seal at each oil change.
Service manager said VW had mandated they do this.
I can understand the seal but not the metal plug.

I've changed my oil a number of times and never used a new drain plug. I highly recommend changing the oil on your own. Here is a good priced kit,http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=J1A5068-A

 

The factory instructions do instruct to change it, and for the diffs too - but I never do on my car.
