Got quoted from a private dealer $4500 for a 4 year 48k miles fidelity platinum warranty(covers everything) on an 07 A8L with 55k miles. Is this a good price or could i do better? Any better contacts? Audi Dealership in Rockville Maryland quoted me $5400 for same warranty.

I am not going to buy this car without a warranty. Thanks for the help

If you can afford it I say go for it. There is a lot that can go wrong in these cars and having a full coverage warranty like that can help give you a little extra confidence

$800 to $1000 a year is the going rate for an extended warranty. So, your in the ballpark. You might be able to do better, but skimping and getting a "cheap" warranty will cause you no end of frustration. You will eventually regret it.

If you're not a DIYer, then a warranty is a must. I like to turn my own wrenches, but I don't like doing things that I don't like to do. I just did my rear brakes, which I enjoyed. There are also plenty of projects in these forums that I have done, and still more that I want to do. But none of that is warrant-able anyway.

My warrantable repairs so far have exceeded the cost of the warranty PLUS the deductibles paid at each warranty visit. That's the gamble you take and the question you have to ask yourself. Do you think the repairs over the next several years will meet or exceed to cost of the warranty?

Carry on...
