Default Purchasing 2004 A8L. Newbie wanting advice.

Hello audi family,

My wife wants to get a an Audi A8L. We test drove a 2004 A8L with 98,000 miles at an audi dealer. It was a carfax one owner car and is in beautiful condition. It looks like it was garaged the whole time.

The test drive was amazing it drove and looked like a new car. I drive an 06 BMW 745LI and I really enjoyed the Audi drive alot.

The car only has the 3yr 150,000 mile drivetrain warranty but I would definitely get a bumper to bumper warranty before leaving the dealership.

I didnt realize the audi uses a timing belt that needs to be changed at the 100,000 mile mark. I will ask the dealer tomorrow is that has been changed.

Dealer is asking 18,900 but want to negotiate for 16,500. Please any advice or opinions are appreciated.

Definitley check to see if the timing belt has been changed since they are usually due at 80,000 miles. I would also check the brakes to make sure they are not worn out yet. Also don't be affraid to play with all the accessory's to make sure they are all working, last would to see if they updated the Navigation DVD in the rear trunk. Thats just a few things to check out. Hope you do well with your new buy.

The last one thing I would do is the 2005 are more advanced for iPods or personal phones. The 2004s do not have this upgrade so make sure you are not that interested in that item.

DEFINITELY the T/B. If they can't PROVE its been done, make it a condition of teh sale that THEY do it (mention this ONLY after you've agreed upon a price!!!).

Make sure ALL the buttons DO what they're supposed to do!!! Even teh ones in th eback seat. You may end up stuck rifding in your own back seat, some day, God forbid, and you'll be PI$$'d to the highest degree of PI$$'d'ivity when you find out they don't (I speak from personal experience, here) Double check them ALL, one last time, before driving off the lot! MAKE them fix any that don't.
