Default soft-close trunk: was it standard in 2004?

I was just reading an old review for the '04 and it mentions soft-close trunk as standard. My trunk needs to be slammed hard enough that I was going to try to adjust it ASAP. This could be explained by the softclose being broken!

Question: was it standard in 2004?
TIA,
-Tom

Hi Tom-

Not sure about 04, model guides are here http://www.audiworld.com/model/

There are actually 2 motors on the trunk:
1 - lifts and lowers
2 - sucks the lid down and is known as the soft close motor

That said, I can only find one actuator in this diagram for the 2004:

The latch may also be the issue, especially in cold weather.

Mine is an 04 and has the suck down motor only which is having issues in the old weather of California.

Jake - is that part 17 on your diagram?

Hi grease-

#17 appears to be the latch.

#20 is the motor which Audi calls an actuator
I've heard it's fairly easy to replace based on some posts I've read.

Thanks guys, I'm off to search for repair info. When I got home this AM there was a motor grinding away in the back until I turned off the car, pretty sure it was the trunk close motor. There is something loose and sliding around in the trunk lid, too; has been that way since I got the car 3 weeks ago. I hope it's something I can just put back together!

I was pretty sure mine did not have the convenience package option, then I read that model guide (THANK YOU for that, great info) and lo & behold, the only way shown to get rear vanity mirrors was in the package!
WPD
Convenience Package
Front Seat Ventilation
Electric Rear Sunshade
Rear Vanity Mirrors
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Power Trunk Open/Close

Mine has everything else, ergo I must have the power open/close trunk! Don't know if I'm happy or sad (it must be broken)!
