staggered 22s on 2001 a8
i did the impossible!!!!! 22x9.5 in the front on 255/30s and 22x11 in the rear on 295/25s. all the custom wheels shop told me i couldnt do without major mods but it bolted right up. And they dont even rub.

It rides perfect. I mean a cant get down on the gas like you have your factory's taking curves and **** but in a straight line and most curves you can get down but the downside is you dont have the sidewall so you have to watch out for potholes. staggered wheels doesnt mess up your transmission its the tires. you have to be within 3% of the overall diameter of the tire. I am within 1% since i have 255/30/22 in the front and 295/25/22 in the rear. All four wheels have to be the same in inches thats it.
As long as the rolling diameter of the wheels matches up closely, the quattro system won't know there's a difference. If the tires are sized properly, their "height" will be very close to the same, and he'll be fine.
When buying my '99 A8 a couple years back, part of the reason the choice came down to an A8/Volvo S80 was the high degree of certainty that the previous owner was likely a dentist or a lawyer and was probably didn't mount dubz or do anything staggeringly "adventurous" to the car which would later turn out to be a mechanical timebomb for moi.
