i started the engine, let the air out of on the left front tire first . The red light came on in the dash. Then i pumped up the tire back to 38psi.
i did this with the rest of the tires and all other them gave me the same result.

i went back to the imm and looked ...still no tire pressures dispaly...am i doing something wrong ??? why is it not displaying the tire pressure and the temp information????
i do'nt think it is the battery in the wheels.

what do you think??

 

Well thats good that all of the sensors gave you a result, that means they are all transmitting a signal. Its not gonna show you pressures for doing that, it has to be driven on an adaption sequence. Since your car did adapt correctly then sometimes the fault has to be erased witha VAG COM then the adaption has to be performed, it can be pretty picky. I've always had problems getting the pressures to set, like i said its a PITA, it could be as simple as just erasing the fault code, but you need a VAG COM to do that.

Having an A8 with a fiber optic loop you might wanna call them to get the correct cable for the car.
