Transmission No Reverse

Transmission No Reverse
Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my 2000 A8. My transmission is failing. I just took it to the dealer and they said that they didn't find any transmission error codes. I told them that it slips in reverse I got a call about 1 hour later and they said that I will need a new transmission.
The car still goes in reverse on flat surfaces, but not on an incline. When parked on an incline, the RPMs just goes up, but the car doesn't move.
Is there anything I can do besides replacing the transmission?
Will taking the car to the dealer and having the transmission flushed and replacing the filter help?
Thanks for all your help.
