My tv icon is missing from the MMI. The dealer said i need a new tuner. I did check the fuse on the fuse panel and it is ok. Is there another fuse inside the actual tuner

Isn't it all digital now; don't even think it would work regardless.

 

I don't think there is a fuse inside the tuner module.

Check all the connections (fibre, FBAS, FAKRA, etc) and if you have VCDS (VAG-COM) or know someone who does a scan will help.

Not sure which country you are in, but I've seen a few of them on ebay.de and of course kufatec.de has them.
There's a company in the UK who parts out A8's on ebay that might be worth a look.
In the US you might try audiusaparts.com or worldimpex.com - anywhere else is going to be less than the dealer.

 

Thanks for your reply . I did check the connections and they are fine the vcd cannot detect the tv tuner . The tuner seems to be quite difficult to remove as it's on the inside of the rack and a lot of wires around it . Do i need to remove everything in order to unbolt the tuner

 

Will try to look at the Bentley tomorrow if time allows.

Seem to recall the tuner is attached to the radio receiver on the back but not 100% sure.

In most cases you can unbolt the rack itself and tip it forward to get the components in/out.

I've checked the connections on the tuner and they are fine .I've forgotten to mention that not just the TVicon is missing on the MMI but also the AV1 &AV2. Could it be an interface that is playing up and where is it located if there is one
