I would really love to only have to use one tire for all seasons on my new-to-me 2001 A8L here in MN, where we do get some snow, but roads get cleared within a couple days of fresh snow, so not many days driving on really thick or slick stuff.

I now have the Michelin Sport AS with only 50% tread. Looking at the Nokian WR G2 as an option for $180 each. Really did not want to get into a second set of rims and winter tires.....o/w there were some Benzs that were interesting to me. I really hope the AWD is all it is said to be.

I rock Falken's. Been using them since I days in Europe. I can HONESTLY say that I've had a set of their Ultra High Performance All-Season (UHPAS) tires on public roads at 170+ mph in the dry, 130+ mph in the wet (actual, pouring rain), and 75+ mph in various kinds of snowy conditions. All with a confident, secure feel/feedback while doing it. No drama... Well, except that one time, in a freak snow-storm... But, I was rolling about 110mph when it started snowing out of nowhere, and some clown in a 300E cut me off while we were cresting a hill, the other side of which was a multi-car meelee of carnage. Still, all I ended up with was some cosmetic damage to the nose of my Calibra. Tires can only do so much, after all, then momentum and inertia take over.

Still, Falken's are IT, for me. Everybody has their preference but, mine has been proven to me 1,000 times over, in real-world, high-speed, live or die situations on the autobahns/autoroutes/autostradas of Europe. And, a handful of times here in the states, on my D2 A8, albeit at much lower speeds.

They grip!
When they DO breakaway, it isn't ALL AT ONCE. You can "feel" then letting go WAY before it becomes critical.
The're not excessively noisy, either.
Nor do they deliver a harsh ride-quality.

My ONLY complaint: You have to run them about 5-7 lbs ABOVE the manufacturer's recommended pressure, or they feel a little squirrly/squirmy. Pump 'em up and they're everything I said they are.

 

^^^^You have to pump them up to get traction? Thats new LOL. How is that D2 A8 running these days BTW?
