My wife and I picked up our new 2012 S-Line 3.2 yesterday and it is sweeeeeet! The only problem we are having is the b/u camera will not turn on when the vehicle is put into reverse. I followed the owners manual on the camera set up, and still nothing. Any suggestions for me before I take it back to the dealer?

 

Your Q5 may be one of the ones affected by the lack of a BU camera chip as result of Japanese arthquake & sunami. Your dealer should have advised you. If you are lacking the chip, Audi will install free of charge when they get some more, which could be as much as 6+ months out. I stopped by our dealer yesterday and the latest time frame they have received from Audi is September/October.

 

I just pre-ordered my q5 prestige at the dealership yesterday and one of sales managers said that the chips may come in around October/November.

I have been following this for months since I bought my Q5 and thought I would "hopefully" give you all a glimmer of hope. So I was at the dealer for my 5000 mile service and I asked about the chip. They told me that they were originally told that it was going to be November but now it is the beginning of December. I thought yeah right, great way to passify me. When I got home that afternoon though, I had a letter from Audi stating that what the dealer told me was correct. I will try to post a copy of the letter when I get home for those who are interested.

 

I recv'd a phone call from my dealer today informing me that Audi has notified them saying that the chips will not be available until May 2012. The dealer told me that Audi said that the most recent batch of chips to be sent out were contaminated with radiation. Supposedly. Audi is looking for a new vendor to produce the b/u camera chips.
