Default Brake Pads & Rotors at 22k miles!?!

My brake pad indicator just came on on my 2007 Q7 a few days ago and today the dealer tells me front pads and rotors need to be replaced at 22,000 miles, at my expense. Audi explains its warranty no longer covers brakes for 2007+ models. Anyone else have the same issue? Shouldn't the indicator be set to give me sufficient warning that the pads are worn that the rotors would not be damaged? At only 22,000 miles?

Default same issue

i just heard from my dealer that the same thing has happened. He claimed the rotors are ultra thin and have to replaced at the same time as pads, etc. I'm going to try to push the rotors aren't brake pads and therefore should be covered by warranty (i'll pay for pads, sensor). Also, may try to make claim that audi has a defective design. I will also need to ask for rotor thickness new versus at replacement and see how much margin there is...it is ridiculous. What did you end up doing?

The pads are pretty thing to begin with and dont last long. Ive seen a couple sets go under the 12 month 12000 mile brake warranty. Doing a set of brakes at every maintainance is ridiculous and i feel your pain. Have the dealer measure the thickness of your rotors and compare to specification. They may still be above replacement specification.
