Default Gas mileage for Q7

I am considering purchasing an 08 Q7 4.2 S-line and want to know what fellow drivers are really getting for mileage. Can you help me with this? The dealer claims it will get 17 on average.

Thank you in advance!

It would really depend on your driving habits and whether its highway or city miles. I really doubt 17mpg though, I don't get that in the city and I have a 3.6. On the highway that's attainable, I usually can get 18-20mpg but again I have a 3.6 so I don't think that's a realistic number for the 4.2

In my 3.6L, I also get 18-20 mpg, and I have a lead foot, and my Q likes to go fast. Go for it! Its a beautiful truck, and unless you are buying a hybrid, all SUV's get the same crappy mpg.

Have you made your decision yet? I have had my '07 4.2 Premium for the past 2 years. I don't drive far for work (10-15 mins away & not highway), use top tier premium fuel only and I get about 14-15 MPG. I don't even use the cruise control as much as I used to, due to where I live now. But the few times when I am on the highway I cruise control constantly. I also do not brake heavy or bite into my brakes. However, I do like to drive fast & the Q7 makes that so easy.

Hope that helps you understand your options better. And I agree.. all SUV's & Full-sized trucks get the same sucky gas mileage. But that wasn't why I bought my Q anyway.
