Default Adjust/change cluster mileage in new(used) cluster (for higher mileage)

Is there any way ?

My car has some 340 000KM and my new cluster has around 200 000km. I would like to adjust the cluster to my REAL mileage (it would need to go up). Is there a way to bring up the mileage ? btw I have vagcom (the free basic version from ross tech).

I still have the old cluster so i don't know if there's a chip that contains the mileage that i could switch easily though the 2 clusters are different (one with trip display, one without..)

thanks

I can't answer the question, but I will offer some advice. I'm pretty sure what you're suggesting is illegal . On my old exploder, the wiring to the gauge cluster went bad, so the odometer stopped workin for about 15k miles. I looked into getting it corrected, but as it turns out the only legal solution is to make a note of the problem on the car's title and estimate the actual mileage. Either way, good luck!

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/car...-swapping.html this is for new clusters. I don't think it is possible to change mileage on a used cluster, at best it only lets you change it once but you could give that link a shot.

Yea so I gave it a shot and it doesn't quite work.. When I get to the ADAPTATION-10 part, and I enter my new mileage (higher than whats on the cluster) and click save i says ERROR. Is it because I have a used cluster and it would probably work on a new cluster ?

thanks

Yeah I would think thats why, that procedure always works for people with new clusters.
