Default Q7 Engine replacement after 5k miles

My new Audi Q7 is requiring an engine replacement after only ~5k miles. I am told several thousand thousand Q7's had the same oil pressure issue as mine. Has anyone been through this? Can the vehicle be trusted after such a major repair? In my case the dealer has had my car two weeks and projecting another two before I get it back. A total pain that takes the fun out of this vehicle.

Did anyone who had this problem with their motor ever notice a metallic clanging shhhh noise upon cold start? My touareg has been in the shop for it several times with no dealer solution readily available. Thanks.

There have been 3 updates to correct the oil pressure issue. None of which are replacing the engine. Two were updates for the instrument cluster software. The other is replacement of the oil filter housing to prevent oil drainback to the pan with the engine off. There should be no engine damage thou as oil pressure is only low at startup for about 1sec. As for reliabilaty after an engine replacement, it could be good as new or you may see some problems. Depends on the replacement quality.

Similar problem on my Q7. Was leaking coolant right from the dealership the day we picked it up, aparently the connection between the reservoir and the hose was not tight...had it tightened. 2 Weeks later start hearing a weird clinking noise, as well as a much louder engine noise. Take it back to the dealership, aparently the whole coolant/oil reservoir system needs to be replaced, parts already ordered from Germany, according to them they have performed this operation on at least 10 other Q7's (Dealership in NC), can anyone confirm this? or has this happened to anyone? I would like to know if this really is a minor problem as explained by the technician, or if I need to consider filing the car as a lemon...

Spaniard... I'm not sure if I'm reading your problem correctly but why would you accept a brand new car from a dealership or anyone if its leaking the day you picked it up? I simply wouldn't have accepted it and took my money elsewhere.

I'm sorry but I had to say it.

I'm truely sorry about your vehicle and wish you the best.

What is it with Audi and oil problems? I have a 2001 A4 that just finished sludge repairs and now my Q7 Oil Pressure Warning light comes on every time it is started cold. Sound like an old diesel and you have to turn it off and then start it again. Sometimes you have to do this two or three times before the oil pump engages. MMI is crap and lights up like a Christmas tree and then dies at least three times a week.

I waited over a month to get a service appointment so we could arrange for a loaner while they took care of these issues for the second time. The first time was a year ago at the 5,000 mile service, which did not fix a thing. The loaner ended up being a Hertz rental car, because loaners are only for people who buy their cars at that dealership. My bad that I was transferred across the country since then.

I was eyeing a new RS4, but with the experiences I have had with Audi here in the greater DC metro area, I will have to look for another brand. Heck, I'd buy a Ford. At least I will expect that one to break down all the time.

I am in the middle of experiencing the exact same problem. Only difference is that it took about 3 weeks total to get my new engine. I got the Q7 back yesterday and today my oil pressure light went on again!!! Very concerning! The dealer told me to bring it back in and that it probably just needs a quart of oil. Or they said I could put the oil in myself and it should be fine. I have major doubts that the problem is solved.
