Default Q7 heat to the second row

I have a 2011 Q7 TDI without the 3 zone heating air conditioning option.

What I've noticed is that when operating in the "auto" mode no heat is directed to the second row of seats via either the vent in the center console or the vents in the door pillars.

If I move the system to manual control and tell it to direct air to the floor then the second row gets heat.

The instruction manual says that heat is directed to the center console and the door pillars either automatically or manually.

Does anyone have any experience with this (e.g. same experience or something different)?

Hi Mark,
I have a 2007. I NEVER use the AUTO option when the air is on. I do not care for how the circulation is directed on AUTO. I elect to use the manual choice of where my air flow is concentrated. I feel as tho the force of the air flow is severely reduced when on this option. If you watch the display turn dial (on screen when available), there will be an arrow next to one of the turn dial numbers. I have come to find that this is the setting the system will turn the AUTO option on if you stop turning the dial at that number.

I hope that gives you some form of needed info, so you can get some understanding with what is going on with your system. I have found that when I ask questions at the dealership, they have been VERY interested in sharing information with me about my vehicle. Perhaps it would be worth a trip to a local Audi dealer & ask someone to spend a bit of time with you helping you understand the options better. Seeing how you have a 2011, it's under warranty for you to have a tech look at it to confirm nothing is actually 'wrong' with how the system is functioning. Good luck!
