Yea, I finally did go buy a notebook computer to use as a dedicated resource for the car. Im hoping these hoses come in today. I get so frustrated sometimes I guess. I didn't realize just how much that boost leak would affect all this. I knew before hand that i needed to wait until that was fixed. I think I just convinced myself that I could "go ahead and do the install part since it doesn't matter if you have a boost leak for that" and then lost visibility on it all once I got all these wheels in motion.

The silicone hose Adapters and extra nozzlesfrom snowperformanceshould be in this week too so I'll be going ahead on with that too.

Nate, I see alot of folks with these chrome turbo piping on here and vwvortex... are they getting this stuff made custom, or is there a resource that I just don't know about? That big pipe that runs back from the turbo to the IC that comes up and over the valve cover partially... are they just polishing that pipe or getting a new one? and I saw a relocation setup someone had for some of that turbo and cooling piping too with all stainless pipes.

Im interested in checking some of this stuff out if anyone knows of somewhere to look. I'm ordering some more sanding and buffing disks for my 3-D sander today and hopefully I can get some TLC in on the Intake manifold and valve cover sometime. I may pull that pipe going from the turbho to the IC too and buff that badboy out.

I'm at a standstill now though until I can get these hoses in. I DID notcie that the cloth braided hose running off my FPR thats routed behind and under the Intake Manifold is completely oil saturated once it routes behind the I.M.

I cant figure out why though... I dont have any oil anywhere else really. Unless it was oil spilled during servicing, then maybe that oil is coming from INSIDE that hose. -shrugs-

The pipes are most likely from a ic kit either custom or made bya manufacturer

cool. maybe I'll just polish up the fewexisting metal ones I already have on there and just settle for that until I actually know where to get some different ones. I'd like to get some metal ones. Maybe that Audi tuning place here that quoted me $150 for a custom mandrel bent DP (excluding the turbo mount flange, that'll be another $200-$250 since they have to machine it)... maybe that place can make me some stainless IC and turbo pipes. lmfao... maybe I can get a Stainless Steel TIP.

Good write-up. I must be a complete mechanical moron though... because EVEN AFTER READING THAT and seeing the Graphs... I dont see anything on that graph that would depict the timing being pulled. How the hell do you know the timing is being pulled by that graph?! It shows the timing line... and the boost, spec boost, etc...
But nowhere does it say when ignition happened and the ECU pulled the timing back. GRR@#$%#@

I think the problem is that Im expecting to actually see something that says "Timing pulled: x.x* adv or ret" and it isnt going to be that simple. Is this one of those things where Im going to see something COMPLETELY different... and Im supposed to know that it means timing was pulled?! Damnit... i just know my lack of engine and mechanical knowledge is whats screwing this up. Im willing to bet Im looking at all of this and not even seeing it.

Ok, you see the cyl 1-4 and the lines for them going higher on this graph? That is timing being pulled

Now in this graph with them all at 0 until 6500 where there is a little knock in one of the cyl. And you can see a nice increase in timing throughout the rpm band

You also have to remember thatthis is a gt2871r on a k03 chip

AHHHHHH.... okay... so let me see if I can guess what those are:

cyl 1-4 is the measurements from block 26 (knock sensor voltages), IAT is intake manifold temps, Green is the actual ignition timing, and I have no clue what the difference is between actual boost and spec boost

good lookin out nate. So I need to keep the knock sensor voltage down to almost nothing then correct?

**EDIT** or at least below 6v as per 225's guidance. (assuming he's right)

How do they get the info to graph like that? are they pulling the information from Vag-Com and exporting it to Excel to graph it... or will Vag-Com graph it for you? If so... I'll do a couple runs and graph it and post it (with all settings @ default until hoses are swapped) Maybe I'll check that oily hose and get some pictures up too in a little bit.

cyl 1-4 is the measurements from block 26 (knock sensor voltages) Beleive so, IAT is intake manifold temps Correct, the sensor is just after the TB, Green is the actual ignition timing Correct, and I have no clue what the difference is between actual boost and spec boost Requested is what the ecu thinks the boost is going to do, you can see the boost curve for the ko3 and the actual is what the boost is really doing, in this case its a gt2871r .64

good lookin out nate. So I need to keep the knock sensor voltage down to almost nothing then correct? Should be 1 or less i think i read somewhere, but lower the better, not to mention safer

How do they get the info to graph like that? Run the charts and then make a graph on excel

awesome. Excel happens to be a hobby of mine (yes i know. you dont have to say it). To this day I've still not found much I can't do on Excel. I still haven't found anyone (not anyone i know in real life anyway) that can keep up with me.

I get distracted too easily. alright, yea, I'll check it out and log some runs.
when you say run the charts.... Im not sure what you mean. the measuring blocks section is a list of everchanging numbers.... is there a way to get a "database style" file exported out of Vag-Com with a chronological list of your readings?

maybe I can get a Stainless Steel TIP.
that would never want to go in, install can be pretty difficult
