Default *fixed, thx!* Need help removing residue!

Hello everyone,

i already posted this in the detailing section, but there seems to be no action over there.

i washed my car today and on the hood there was something i thought was a Bird present, but whn i tried to wash it off only the top part came off,
leaving a patch that feels hard as resin or something. could it be treesap? I have no clue how to get it out. Please help!

Thanks.

looks like caked on bird s***.... use hot water and a soft terry cloth, then i would wax that area when your done. their s*** is kinda acidic and will eat the paint if left on there too long.

Rinse, wash, rinse again, dry, clay bar, rinse, dry, polish, sealant, wax.
I wouldn't use a sealant or wax until it was completely removed. But clay bars usually work wonders.
You can find a lot of info in the detailing section on how to use them, and which ones are good.

Did you try bug & tar remover? The paint is clear-coatedand will take a fair amount of abrading. If you get all the residue off &there's a stain remaining, and you have a buffer, you might try something very mildly abrasive (cleaner) to see if it cleans it up.

Be super quick, and use 2 soft cloths. One w/ acetone, and one dry, to wipe off any acetone residue quickly.

If you want it to, the stuff works wonders at removing paint and primer, but clearcoat takes a bit to get thru. I sanded my pass. mirror housing since the clear was flaking, and was gonna wipe it clean w/ acetone before I painted it, and any spot the clear was gone, was also missing paint and primer in about 10 seconds.
