Default 180bhp FWD TT

Hi all. I'm brand new to this site, and currently considering buying myself a brand new audi TT. Because i'm only 22 it will have to be the (quite new to the UK) 180bhp FWD coupe, as its all i can afford, and i want to buy it new. My question is, has anyone got experience of these? Are they ok or has there been any problems with them? Obviously they aren't as quick as 225bhp versions, and maybe dont handle as well as quattro versions but are they still good?

Also, from browsing the web, i have seen a common problem in the TT is the dash pod failure. Does this only affect older TTs (pre 2000/2001) or is it still a problem with new ones? Finally i heard rumors that a new TT is due for next year. Is this true? Thank you all.

I agree with CL. I wouldn't buy a 180HP FWD version of the TT. I believe here in the States they only released the
FWD version of the TT in 2000. I just bought a 2001 Audi TT 225hp Quattro Coupe and I couldn't be happier.
A great looking car inside out and it handles like no other car I have ever driven and I had a lot of cars in my years.
So far I can not find anything wrong with the car except it makes me drive faster than I should most of the time.
The engine purrs like a dream and with the REVO tune it now cranks out 260HP and 289 lbs of torque. A big difference in seat
of the pants feel. The car just puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and I enjoy it more everytime I drive.
If you can buy at least a Quattro 180HP TT because I know in Europe the charge you big money for Horsepower in Insurance.
Driving a FWD TT is like Paris Hilton without a Boob Job or flying an airplane without wings. Something will be missing.
Don't buy something and then regret later that you didn't get a Quattro. And I know you will...

Overall I think the TT is a great car and so far it has been very reliable. My 2001 runs and looks like NEW for less than half the price
