180TTQ downpipe. its getting done
finally found a local reputable race shop to make me a Dp for the 180ttQ they are charging 300 for standard DP and 450 if i want the race cat on it. its going to be 3" pipe. i cant wait.
well, hes gonna have my car for one day, and he said he'll have them done. i guess after you make one its easy to make the rest. as far as money, you are paying a store that goes through the better business bureau, and since you'll be paying through a credit or debit card, you have a transaction record on there. thats why i didnt want to colect the money myself. i wanted it to be clear that there was not interest for me. I'm not even getting a discount. i would have, if i charged you guys more (didnt think of it then...too late now...j/k). you can call them and pay for the pipe as they require it before fabrication since they have to buy the components. i will go there when hes done and check out the pipes. when you pay for it you can discuss shipping with him, or if you want you can have him give it to me and i can ship it out for you guys. I'll probably do it faster, but would prefer it went out from him.

Once we have a list, we will make them at once.

the shop looks like the shop of someone who digs into cars not just does software tuning. its a real race shop. i used to have a shop on the same street as them and i've seen some crazy cars come out of there.
( i used to build show cars before i left it all behind to start doing IC layout....making computer chips).

A lot of people keep telling me not to get a 3" complete exhaust... they keep tellin me im not gonna have enough down pressure...
I wanna get a 3" DP and straight back 3" or 3" highflow cat to a muffler, a good performance muffler... but why do i keep hearing bad things about that from muffler shops?
I have a 180ttq, is a 3" full exhaust bad? and whats the benefits of buying a catback exhaust for 800-1000 $$$
And wheres San Jose... im not to familiar with cali yet... but im right smack dab in the center of this state in a bowl of dust called Lemoore

The first principle of hotrodding is balance; in the old days guys would put huge carburetors in their engines and wonder why they didn't run right. Even nowadays you read these magazine articles about "tuner" cars where customers spend $5-$10K and end up with an impressive looking engine compartment and a time slip that's maybe 1/10 faster or sometimes even slower than stock. Why? The components don't work together well and performance is lost. With exhaust, too big a diameter and you loose the scavenging effect that keeps the exhaust flowing at a good rate. You want a balance between reduced backpressure and good scavenging. A 3"pipe on 1.8L engine sounds like too much unless you have huge boost, but if you have huge boost you better have everything else to get the most out of it.
You will be fine with a 3" exhaust. Like said above the people you are talking to may not understand turbos and exhaust flow. NA cars need the pressure, turbo cars, the turbo provides the pressure and you just need piping that is large enough to cuase no more pressure.
