Default 2000 TT Engine Issues

MAJOR HELP NEEDED - I had some work done on my TT a few months ago at a very reputable mechanic - the labor involved timing belt and A/C compressor - parts and labor cost me $1100. In an effort to sell my car I had a mechanic look over the car to get the car up to snuff for any potential buyers. One thing I noted and mentioned to the mechanic to try to fix was that the car had power steering fluid leaking out which caused for the awful noise when the wheel was turned. The mechanic got under the car and noticed that the engine was sitting low - and took a look from up top and saw that a motor mount had broken free from the chassis. This has caused an unknown amount of damage, but I am looking for some answers as to what may have happened. I contacted the mechanic and he said he doesnt think it was his fault because "he doesnt remember having to remove the engine to replace the a/c compresor or timing belt, is this true? What is involved? If the threads on the bolt failed, what are my options? Perhaps the threads on the chassis stripped and the bolt fell out - if sodoes audi have any obligation to the faliure? My car has 93,000 miles on it, which means the warranty has expired - so I am out of luck pursuing that.

ANY HELP OUT THERE??

Thanks

what motor mount? is it the one on the left if your looking at the engine? if so then yes the mechanic is to blame. you have to remove the left motor mount in order to change the timing belt. you better show him that he is wrong

Yeah - the left motor mount - it is dangling there and the timing belt is bascially rubbing the mount.

What do you think the mechanic forgot to do? I was thinking a few things, forgot to install the bolt or left it loose.

Thanks for your reply.

I just got done doing the T belt. He forgot to tighten the stretch bolts there are about 5 if I am not mistaken. Def his fault!!!!!! Sounds like he will be buying you a new motor mount T-belt and any other damage from the Mistake.
