Default 2001 225HP Engine Blown - Where to find replacement?

I bought a 2001 TT Quattro 225HP 6 months ago with 112,000 miles on it. I've put 5k on it and replaced the ignition coils, spark plug wires, spark plugs, and even had the clutch replaced in the time I had it. After all that, the engine blew on my way to try and trade it in. I still have over 7.5 grande on my car loan so no dealership wants it, and I wouldn't be able to sell it with the lien on the title. My best option may be to just replace the engine. I went to car-part.com and saw some options, but I was hoping someone knows of something or somewhere better. I also was wondering if there are different engines that are compatible with my car, perhaps something from a different Audi or possibly a VW engine.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

unfortunately for you the tt 225 engine is unique. as far as i know you can really only use a tt 225 engine. i know a lot about 06a engines and the tt 225 is an 06a block, but i remember seeing somewhere that making a tt225 engine work in an a4 is too much work, so im guessing it wont work. however, i need you to elaborate on how the engine "blew". tt 225 engines are few and far bewteen and not cheap. unless theres a hole in the block your probably best off rebuilding it

I was told one of my bearings went on my camshaft. Before this happened a shop told me the engine was on its way out because it was completely sludged up. I also had 60% leakdown on one of my cylinders. I found engines on car-part.com for about 3 grande.

car-part.com is where I picked up my new ATW engine for my A4. Ended up coming from a place in Green Bay, WI. Havent got it in car yet to comment on how it went, but from what I looked up for finding a new one that seemed to be the site to get a good price at.

Default I have a head

Hi there. Sorry about your issues. Happened to see your post while looking for tuning info for my '01 TT. I just replaced my head with a AEB head so I have a perfectly good used head. It has 104,000 miles on it. I put 94,000 of those miles on it and my service guys said everything looked fine. I'd let it go for $200 & include shipping, if not too outrageous.
The AEB head was for some performance upgrades, AMU was running fine.

car-part.com is about as good a resource you will find unless you just get lucky. I found mine at LKQ through car-part.com. It was around $3k for it as well. As mentioned, you will have to find another 225 TT motor, and be aware there are two styles (AMU and BEA). You can use either by swapping in the cam tensioner between them, but easier to get the "right" one.
