Hi everyone, a couple of questions about my car:

2003 225HP 6SP (manual) TT Quattro.

It was running fine. I parked it and came back a few minutes later and found that I was unable to get in to 1st and 2nd gear. Reverse, and 3-6 all worked fine.

I tried adjusting the shift linkage, but that made no difference.

Is this likely to require a new transmission ?

Could it merely be an issue with the synchro sleeve ?

If I do need a new transmission, is there any possibility of swapping between the codes. For instance, I have an "FMN" would a "DQB" be a direct replacement.

Financially, this couldn't have happened at a worse time. I'd like to take the least expensive option.
