I have a 2008 Audi TT with the bose sound package. Now I know this is already an awesome upgrade and I'll admit it sounds really great but recently I've really wanted the extra bass. Also the iPod plugin in the glove box is not the greatest since my iPhone barely fits in there and when it does it's a pain getting it to stay straight while driving since if it doesn't the audio only comes out of the left speakers. Therefore I'm looking for a new head unit and two 10's or maybe two 12" subs.

Basically what I'm asking is if anybody has done anything similar to their cars and how it turned out any pointers for things to watch for etc.

Also any suggestions for setups that worked nicely for you would be awesome.

So far I'm looking at this Alpine 500-watt Dual 10" Bass package

And then a $120 head unit from either Pioneer or Kenwood. Or maybe Alpine? There's so many brands I have no idea which one would be best.

Hi Blindperspective, I can't say I have had any experience with the bose ....but when I purchased my 08 TTr I knew while on the highway with he top down I was going to need some serious upgrading also. My fix ..I have the nav and ipod also so I had a custom box made to fit under where the top sits with a 13" slimline JL bass speaker and changed out all of the oem internal speakers and tweeters with Diamond speakers and added a 1000 watt amp that bypasses the amp already in the car and that is tied to a rockford fossgate 3sixty one signal processor to help them all play nicely together. I kept my head unit because I wanted to remain oem. The trunk itself act as a giant bass box (the speaker faces down and the hole in the side is a port) and If I sell the car the amp and box can be removed. I have to say I was quite pleased with the sound.
