350 awhp
that is what im shooting for.
i have spent the last 3 days reading here and have gotten allot of good information. like 400awhp is out of the question, ill need rods, and ill also need a clutch....
im not big with turbos. i tried everything to make my last car move but it stayed n/a and never got me to where i wanted to be.
so this time im not dicken around with it.
since i dont know much about turbos (read the turbo 101-103) maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
goal: nowhere south of 350awhp
possible turbos: GT2871R
GT3071R
T3/T4 50trim .48
T3/T4 50trim .63
rods clutch and all that other stuff i understand. its just the turbo that "slows me down"

RE: 350 awhp
On what octane? If pump you will need atleast a gt3071r or better yet, a gt3076r. There is all or 100-200rpms differnce in spool between the 2 and the 76r can make about another 100whp. If you dont mind using w/m or race gas, you should be able to get there with a gt2871r.
The 50trim .63 will also be able to get you there if you want to spend a little less on a turbo, but if money doesnt matter, a gt30 turbo will be better.
Also please remember that there is other ways to make hp than just with a bigger turbo, a ported head or AEB big port head and big port intake manifold will also give large gains when you are talking these power levels. Most people just cheap out and spend the extra $100 on the turbo instead of getting things like above to max out a smaller turbo that will spool faster and make simular power as a larger turbo. If you havent, please read the BT and HP thread

RE: 350 awhp
Thanks for the reply.
I want to be able to run on pump gas (91)…
Any way I can get to 350 (the cheapest) would be ok. (Money is ALWAYS a factor)
The last car I had I did pretty much everything BUT add a turbo… and it was a waste. So im really going to focus on forced induction this time.
Hell if I can get 350awhp out of the stock turbo, that’d be great. But how much would that cost…? Can the stocker even support that?

RE: 350 awhp
The stock turbo cant, but it maxed out and with about a 75shot of nitrous will get it there.
You can get a nice 50trim .63 kit from pagparts (send him a email) will cost you about $3200 for everything. Just add in a clutch and you will be close, but will need w/m injection (to add more boost and timing) to get you the rest of the way there. That will be about $3500 for the kit and w/m if you get in on the group buy here. The clutch will put you back another $800+. Then when you get more money you can start doing things like head work, intake manifold, fmic, etc.

RE: 350 awhp
Ok now we got something here…
I should be looking at a T3/T4 50 trim .63 turbo…
Do you know whats in “pag’s” kit…? (suppose I SHOULD just email him.)
I would need rods, clutch, fmic, remap, 3inch exhaust, tubular manifold, intake manifold, and injectors… to get to my goal.
This sound about right?
(or do I still not getting this right)

RE: 350 awhp
You can make more than 320whp on stock internals if you have a 225 or a 2000 180 with a 50trim. If you are fine with that, you can stick with the stock rods. Pag comes with a nice cast manifold, dp, sw, injectors, litterly everything but a clutch. If you then want more power you can then add in rods after and then a intake manifold and so on.

RE: 350 awhp
You can copy my Pag kit if you would like...... pag parts gt3076r kit..... 4000.00 for everything.... i payed 4500.00 for v banded with external gate.... but im shooting for 350whp+ out of the box @ 21-22 psi

RE: 350 awhp
I emailed pag and I got a response that he only has GT kits for the TT.
I dont thinkthat ill need anything like the 76r, but I am really looking at the GT3071r.
What do all you forced induction junkies think?

RE: 350 awhp
The 76r has a good 75whp+ more in it and only 100-200 more rpms in lag. Both are great turbos, but if you think you would ever want more power, go with the 76r.
He should be able to put together a 50trim kit for you if you really want one.
