350Z kill
I was out getting dinner tonight and came across a 350Z on the bypass at a light and when the light turned green we both kinda pulled off semi aggressively to see if the other wanted to race. I let him get about a 1/2 car length on me and then I heard him floor it so I floored it too. So I guess we were around 10 mph when we stepped on it. I quickly caught him and by the time we were at 90 mph I was over 1 car length infront and still pulling. We both back off about then and I let him go by and he was giving me this sour puss look. At the end of the bypass was another light and I was behind him and noticed that he had done something to his exhaust but didnt know what. It was a dual outlet valance but I only saw one pipe on the drivers side but it was cut off like he had cut the muffler off. It was louder than a normal exhaust. So not sure if he has upgraded the exhaust or what. The valance matched so Im not sure if it was the stock one or not, and he had some performance shop stickers on his window so Im not sure what if any mods he had but Im sure he had something. I think it was a 2004 or 2005 Z. But why he had to be so sour puss I dont know, I hope it eats at him that he was smoked by an Audi.
Yea I want to hit the track but I want an exhaust and MBC before I go. Im hoping with a MBC I can up my peak boost to about 20 and hold steady around 16, looking for an extra 10 - 20 hp. Then hoping for another 10 or so with an exhaust when some come out cheaper than Milltek. There are no shops in this city that I would trust for a custom one.
Them and I think MTM but Milltek wants $2000 for a complete exhaust and MTM is right there too. I really just want a DP with highflow cat and a smaller muffler. The stock muffler is as big as the trunk.
the big muffler usually means chambered which is bad for a turbo car. I would find a shop that you would trust and bring them a nice strait through borla or magnaflow and have them make one. Full turboback shouldnt be more than $1k if you buy the cat, res (if you want one), muffler and maybe the flange for the turbo and cat. And that $1k is with you buying the other parts above.
Or you can have someone that is cross-eyed fab one upfor you [:-]. It actually looks like poop but it fit perfect on the car with no exhaust leaks. Sounded great.....Put a link at the bottom. And it was connected to 3" all the way back. (2) high flow cats: $150.00. Fabrication and installation

where are you that there are no good shops for doing exhaust, the local muffler shop should be able to weld something up, and a grand? man that is rich...... you should be able to get the muffler for what, 200 or less the cats, he said 100 and not more that 100 to run your pipe...... 200 at most that is only 500
i have an a4, got a $30 muffler and 2.5 in from flex pipe back, that was 70 for 170 i think 270 for mine, but i think i am going tp/dp after winter

He wants a turbo back and on a transverse car, thats a little more effort than a longitude 1.8t. The muffler is $100-150 for a nice magnaflow or Borla and cat is $100-200 and the res is $70-100. Add in the rest of the mandrel bent pipes and labor, your looking more like $700-1000 depending on labor rates and aluminized vs stainless steel
i understand that he wants turbo back, i am going to like i stated in one thread toss in a dp/tp come spring, earlier if funds are there, which that is what about 200 right and then do that last little piece 2.5 inch
but i had a buddy with a gli bring his car and a muffler to the same shop and they only charged like 150 or so..... i know it is not turbo back, but cat back, but is it really that much more pipe from the turbo on that motor to the cat?
sorry if i sound stupid, not familiar with the transverse motors........or is more cause it is the tt body?
part of the reason i am here is i am trying to learn about the tt's...... me wants one
