Default 70k service

I have a 2001 TT 1.8T and the service light came on about 70 thousand miles. Is there any specific maintenance that needs to be done that can be done without taking it to a dealership or is this something required. Noting seems to be wrong with the car and everything runs fine.

No, you can't shut it off (for some reason...), you have to reset it.

reset and shut off are the same thing to me!

manual explains the procedure for resetting service intervals. easier to do with vagcom, which is why I don't know what the procedure is in the manual (only that its there). : )

^ actually there's an easy way to shut off the maintenance interval light.

you hold some sort of button before you start the car then start it back up or something... i haven't done it for awhile.

haha ya, its in the manual
