Default aftermarket speaker help

my speakers dont sound too great to begin with but they are also going out...

i used to work with car-fi stuff and i understand that all OEM premium like Bose and JBL have terrible compatibility with aftermarket stereo systems. i dont feel like changing out my head unit because i like the stock look but i need new speakers...

i have bose speakers (or the speaker grills have bose emblems on them) and my head unit says audi concert....

the question is... how do i know what system i really have then, because it its just the audi concert i should be able to directly replace all the speakers with no issue but if i have the bose system i will come across compatibility issues due to the bose amp...

how do i find out?

My plan is to replace the speakers first. I figure since they are all relativly small speakers, there gonna be cheap. So there is no reason to skimp on quality. I'm going to replace 1 pair at a time. Every time I replace a speaker, I cover the surrounding area with dynamat. That way, it's smaller projects.
After I get all of the speakers replaced, I'm going to get a new head unit. I plan on keeping the Bose amps and wiring. I did the same thing in my range rover, it came out great. That's the order tho. The head unit is the last thing to upgrade. Because the stock speakers can't usualy handle the power of the stereo. I can't wait to replace all of my speakers. I'm gonna start with the highs and work my way up to the bigger speakers. A really good set of tweeters is only around $100, and all of the other speakers are the same size(x4). So maybe you can get a good deal buying 2 pair from someone.

I like my bose head unit as well. The speakers however are rattling a little and I would like to replace them. Shouldnt we just be able to replace the speakers with other ones of the same size and be good to go? I dont want to rip anything out of the car. I just want 4 nice speakers. Two for the doors and two behind the seats. The center is fine.

yes you can!. but.. you might not see much gain due to the factory amp. if you wanna make a difference in sound quality you will wanna change out amps and all that fun stuff!.
you can do a component set for under $300. if i were to do any of it. i would do a component set.

well if you have bose, you have the bose amp which will not connect to aftermarket speakers easily, its either do it all or just replace with the same oem speakers...

Well I think one of my speakers might be popped.. maybe.. it rattles at certain frequencies. I really just want to take care of that rattle by adding new speakers.. and keeping everything else. Anybody have any tips on which speakers fit?
