Air vent 'buzzing'
Hi folks,
This is my first post in this forum as I am now the proud owner of a 2001 TT Quatro. What a cool little car! I'm glad to find a forum out here where hopefully I can find someone who can help me. My problem is this: The top left-most air vent (to the left of the steering wheel) is emitting a 'buzzing sound', like there's a screw loose in there. It started out small, but now it's buzzing all the time. I can look in there a little bit with a flashlight and don't really see anything loose, so I thought I'd pop out the vent and take a look. How big a job is that? Or can anybody give me an idea of what to look for?

Welcome to Audi Forums Dirt Squirt!
Since you're new... check out the START HERE! (click this link) link to get a rundown of the lingo/vocab here at audiforums.
Then be sure to search the archives when you have a question. Chances are the question has been asked before (probably several times) and the archives will have plenty of information to answer your question. If you still need answers, please feel free to ask questions.
Don't feel intimidated; we are all a bunch of pretty cool guys (and gals). Feel free to post advice, comments, ideas, suggestions, and even pics.

I think you have the right idea. If you're sure it's in that vent area alone, then I'd pop it out and check for loose plastic trim or electrical tape, etc.
Worse case scenario: It's within the fan itself and you're hearing a bearing, misalignment, or something foriegn stuck inside.

Hi Dirty Squirt and welcome to the Audi Forum. I also just bought a 2001 Audi 225HP Quattro Coupe and love the car.
It's smooth and quick for such a little engine.
Not sure what that Buzzing noise in your vent could be. perhaps something loose that resonates through the vent? I don't know
how to pop the vent and would be carful. Plastic tends to break very easily and I am sure Audi will charge you a pretty good penny
to replace those vents. You do know that you can turn them to open and close, right? So they have to be mounted onto some mechanism that turns clockwise. So it stands to reason that if you turn it all the way clockwise the vent should come off, but like
I said be careful and don't use excessive force ;-)
Good Luck and let us know what you find in there! Could be a lost Bee, you never know... ;-)
