Default Aliens Help

I just bought a 2004 tt quarto last Friday and seem to learn something new each day (by playing with it and reading the manual). I’m trying to figure out if I’ve got the headlight washers (AKA Aliens). Were they standard equipment in 2004? If so, can someone please tell me how they are activated.

Also, I'm thinking about getting it chipped. Dose anyone have a feel for the effect on engine life. gaining 30 to 40 hp without worse mileage or engine wear sounds too good to be true.

Thanks for the input. Loving every miniute with the car so far.

As for your chip question? There are plenty of people around here that are driving chipped TT's. I a few fellow drivers that have been running 22psi on stock internals for about 4-5years. So... No I dont think that chipping your engine is going to effect the life of it. Buy you also have to remember that it all depends on other stuff. How well do you take care of you car? Basic tune ups? How heavy of a foot do you have? Types of oil? Types and quality of fuel? There are so many differnt things that effect the life of you engine. But to just chip it, no it shouldnt effect the life of you engine.

Thanks for the input - I just got back from the parking lot. The aliens are alive and well. Boy, you weren't kidding about the mess.

225tt - any other mods you'd suggest right away with a good bang for the buck? What about a air induction system to replace the air filter - I was checking out the K&N 57i.

Check out www.modshack.info. Steve is a fellow TT owner and he custom makes intakes for all 1.8T engines. I highly recomend these intakes as I think they out perform any other intake out there. They are a bit more expensive, but the performance is great. Check out the other thread... Modshack products. And check out his website. If you decide to go with a different intake there are plenty out there but im not really sure which one is better as I focused all my attention on the intake from Modshack.

HIDs are high intensity discharge lamps or xenons

U cant see the head light washers when drivin, they come out of the like square cutouts of the front bar under the headlites

not all have head light washers even though the opening is there but you can fit them, turn your lights on and get someone to press the washers then you might see them pop out if not have a look behind the bumper for the parts if fitted

if thats your car in the sig then you have them. they are the squares under the headlights. Your lights have to be on and when washing your windows hold the stick back and wait and you will hear a second motor working.

Do all TT's have them? ... yes

. I believe all TT's have xeons correct? yes

Thanks!
