Default Anyone lowered Their TT??

I was thinking of lowering my car with some H&R springs, i would appreciate some feedback from all you guys who have already lowered their TT, and how it affects the ride ( or even improves it) considering that the stock the suspension is hard as a rock. I have a pretty smallish commute, but regulary take long drives on weekend (3/4 hours) .Also feedback on what brand of spring you used would be great.
Cheers

Hello, My 2000 Audi TT was lowered 1.4" via Neuspeed springs w/ 28mm anti-sway bar I think from Neuspeed I think. The car handled very well however if you pushed it, the rear end would let loose and very hard to recover. In fact I just totaled my car Monday nite over $259 because I didnt know I needed this kit to return the camber back to where it was. I knew something was wrong when my rear tyres were wearing faster than the front ones. Also my EBC ceramic breaks have like 7k max and are 3/4 worn. The sad part is that I had an alignment scheduled for this Tuesday because I knew something was amiss. Talk about bad timing. The insurance company asked if there was any work done to the rear end and I told her I didnt know. There was no police report but I guess it was being investigated. Who do I tell about the part that should have been installed and therefore avoided the accident?

Thank you

Your tires were wearing faster because lowering the car changes your toe as well as camber. Out of spec toe is what accelerates tire wear more than anything else, and negative camber is actually better for cornering. As you enter a turn and the car's weight rolls to the outside of the turn, that pushes your outside tire flat on the ground (when you have negative camber), which is ideal because those tires are responsible for most of the grip in a turn. But when your toe is out, the car is fighting itself just to go straight all the time, and makes things far worse while turning. A camber kit wouldn't have saved you from totalling your car, but the alignment could have depending on how far out your toe was.

THis is the Rear Tire, just look at the wear pattern and the degree of wear.

A drop of that much definitely needed the alignment kit to correct the camber and toe. 25mm sway bar on the rear is too large unless you changed the front as well.

I installed the Koni Sport coilover kit in my car. I am lowered about 1.5 inches. You would also need to install at least 1/2 KMAC kit to allow enough adjustment to realign the rear. The ride is a bit stiffer with the shocks set at about 3/4 stiff, but it is still a good ride. The stiffer suspension along with a 19mm rear sway will make the handling act the way it should.
