i' m having a hell of a time taking apart the vent assembly, I tried wedging pencils under it instead of clothespins, and it really seperates it, but hten no matter how hard i push on my screwdriver it wont come out... ive tried tapping it with a hammer and stuff, still no luck!!!!

I just takes patience, clothespins, 5 screwdrivers and time. I did mine last week for a boost gauge install. Breaking it apart without trashing it was by far, the worst part of thejob. It is worth it in the end. You might try slightly softening the plastic with a hiar dryer if it is cold. Just don't deform it.

I had the same problem, once the clothes pins were in it was too hard to pry off, I finally got it by putting 1/2 a clothes pin on each side of the notched catches and pushing them up toward the trim ring to "stretch" the outer plastic ring, then removing them quickly and prying gently w/ a small flathead screwdriver before the plastic returned to it's memory shape. HTH, good luck and I agree, the hardest part to the boost gaugeinstall once I figured out where to tap into the line @ the fpr. It's my first turbo car and I was a little intimidated by all the hoses!

Yeah,

It's a PITA but worth it in the end, now if my damn guage would come in I'd be happy as opposed to looking at a pretty vent mounted hole[]

I actuallyfound that a flathead worked the best. Just be gentle and have a little patience and you can get everything off without breaking the assembly. Of course if this does not bother you just use a hammer and break everything and it will only take a couple of minutes.
