I'm pretty sure you'll have to have an ECU that corresponds to the engine code. So if you have an AMU now and swap to an AWP you'll need a new ECU as well. All pretty easy to find I think.

The AMU is non-vvt and so is the ATC, so that would be a easy drop in engine. you dont have to worry about the ecu. Plus the rods are the same and the c/r is higher on the ATC

THANKS ALL!!!
i just returned from the dealership and saw them take the head out. just knicks on the pistons no grooves on the walls, valves had some knicks too. they're gonna mapreassure test it and machine it and replace the valves for good measure.
92k miles with the original head gasket and timing belt, i guess it's good to have it done anyway.
just the anticipation of a possibly messed up engine that got me plus the 5-6k tab....

diehlryan, again i apologize for not taking the comments with a grain of salt, but i'm better now.

to everyone, thanks for all the input and advice.

happy boostin'

the middle exhaust valves just need replaced and the pistons can be smoothed out and reinstalled. Should cost a couple thousand max. Add in the $1k for the tb and another $90 for the gasket set. You should see if they will let you replace the parts needed and get them from ecs and you should save tons of money.

cincytt,
i inquired about the parts that they're putting and they warranty them, if i get parts from ecs they'll replace it using the parts i got but would not guarantee the part.
what do you think?
i'm really tempted in getting the 398 kit with the under drive pulley set. heck might as well upgrade.
any suggestions on a performance or upgrade head gasket?
thanks

my understanding is that there is no real PROs to the under-drive pulley on ECS's ultimate timing belt kit.

plastic impeller - BAD
metal impeller - GOOD

Generally when the timing belt goes, its not the belt that fails. Its either the tensioner or the water pump seizes. The pump is because the plastic impellers crack and split and get wedged all up in it.

all the stuff on ecs's websiteare either oem peices or meet/exceed oem requirements. I dont think you would have to worry about having the parts warrentied, its not like they are going to fail if installed correctly, just like the parts they are installing. And yes, stick with stock pullies or if you must splerge, the lightweight (not underdrive) pulleys are fine
