Default Audi a6 engine swap

looking to swap my 99 engine with an 02-03 but wanna know if it would actually fit without cutting anything or remodding other things..becuase it seems like from 99 to 03 the cars look really alike in and out so if any1 has any advice it would be nice..

Depends what kind of engine... the 2.7, 2.8, or 4.2?

If I were going to go through the trouble of swapping engines I would swap the 2.7t into a 4.2 body.... How good would that look, you get the looks of the 4.2 and the power of the 2.7t! That would be a great combination

The 4.2 is sweet. If you are not going to do mods, the 4.2 is the only choice.

The engines will fit, but you will need ALL the parts! Unless a rear-ended 02 lands in your lap, and you have LOTS of time, money and mechanical skills, you will be better off trading up.

The 2.7t chipped (600) will get about 320 hp. Thats 20 more than a stock 4.2. You can tune the 2.7t to about 450 hp. If you are going through all the time/effort to swap engines why not just get a 2.7t upgrade the turbos (the engine is out anyway) and dominate almost any stock car on the road!

Even if you wanted too, the 4.2 engine wouldnt fit in the 2.8 bay because the 4.2 version has the fender flares and the larger engine bay to fit the 4.2. so unless you got major money, dont try it. plus, you could probably just sell your 2.8 and keep the money and go buy a 4.2. Its probably better to chip the car or put in a supercharger.

The 4.2 engine is the ****. The 2.7t is the tuner. But judging by VAST performance's leaps and bounds in Audi engine tuning, I see the 4.2 becoming muuuuuuuch more popular.
